Friday, June 23rd at the Dunigan Family YMCA from 4-7pm
Saturday, June 24th at the race site in Scales Lake from 5-6am
You will receive your race number, swim cap, t-shirt and goodie bag during packet pick-up. Please bring your race packet with you to Body Marking on Saturday morning.
*If you are a USAT member, please bring your card. Without the card we have to charge you $15.
Body Marking and Chip Distribution
Everyone must go through “body marking” where we will be writing your race information on your body with a marker- please bring your race packet with you. Once your body is marked, you will proceed to chip distribution. Chips will be on a neoprene band that you will wear on your ankle throughout the race- as you exit the finish chute we will collect these from you.
This area opens at 5am. There is one transition area in which you will use between each leg of the race (there are no changing tents). The time you spend in the transition is counted towards your total race time. Only body marked athletes are allowed in this barricaded area- this is where you will rack your bike (first come; first served). Please collect your items by 10am, as the transition area will be closed.
When you arrive, you will be greeted by a parking attendant. Athletes will be able to park in Scales Lake Park and bike to the transition area about a half mile away, so bring a backpack for your gear. Spectators will park at Loge Elementary School and will be shuttled to the race site. Athletes with bikes may not use the shuttle.
Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting
All athletes are required to attend the 6:30am pre-race meeting near the shelter house. In this meeting we will go over safety considerations, rules and other specific race information.
The lake will be open at 6:50am for you to warm up.
A swim cap will be provided to you and is required to enter the water. The start of the race will begin at 7am with a wave start. Waves will be approximately 40 to 60 people per wave. Individual men’s waves will start first, followed by waves of women and teams. Wetsuits, fins, and hand paddles are prohibited. We will have boats and lifeguards inside the loop for safety. Duathletes will start with their own short run instead of this swim.
The bike course is a 17 mile route through Boonville. There are long flats as well as some challenging hills. Be sure to bring your own water for this portion. You must wear a cycling helmet with a fastened chin strap before you mount your bike on the road. Tandem and recumbents are not allowed. Headphones/earbuds are also prohibited and will result in penalties.
There will be several water stations on the run course. We do encourage participants to carry extra water with them. The finish will be in front of the shelter house. You must wear your race number in front.
All team members must go through packet pick-up and body marking. The bike and run members will be stationed in the transition area at the bike rack. Team members must hand over the chip to one another at the rack before leaving the transition area.
Timing and Results
Results will be posted as they come in. They will provide split times for each portion, as well as your overall time. Please be patient; your times will be posted as soon as they are available at the race site and also race day at www.evansvilleymcatriathlon.org.
SAG Wagon and Medical
There will be a SAG wagon on the course to provide bike assistance during the race. We will have medical professionals on the bike course, a medical trailer and EMTs available all day.
The YMCA and the Southern Indiana Triathlon Team will host a post race cookout and celebration. We will have post race drinks (water and Gatorade) as well.
Awards Ceremony and Post Race Celebration
This will begin around 10am at the shelter house.
